NimaGen IDseek® Team
The NimaGen IDseek® Team has extensive experience in developing library preparation kits for Massively Parallel Sequencing (MPS) in forensics, using its patented and unique technology of reverse-complement PCR (RC-PCR). RC-PCR is the only one-step MPS library preparation method as straightforward as any normal PCR, but combining multiplex PCR amplification, adapter ligation and indexing simultaneously in a single closed-tube reaction. It makes the whole process simpler and less prone to contamination. The reaction kinetics of RC-PCR result in high sensitivity and specificity, which makes it suitable for the analysis of very low template DNA.
In CapCell, the NimaGen IDseek® Team will work together with the KU Leuven team to enable sorted/single-cell forensic DNA analysis based on relevant biomarkers by both adjusting current detection systems and developing novel sequencing assays.
I have an MSc degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Wageningen. Through various roles in different commercial companies, I have built experience in the field of forensic DNA. Since joining Nimagen in 2022, I am working hard to grow the market for our IDseek® Forensic MPS Portfolio based on the novel and innovative Reverse Complement PCR (RC-PCR) technology.
I started in Human Genetics at Radboudumc in Nijmegen, and founded the core sequencing lab. At Applied Biosystems, I was an application development specialist in Capillary electrophoresis. In 2011, with Ruud van der Steen, I founded NimaGen. We recognised the power of RC-PCR technology and started developing Forensic Applications with this.
In 2020, I earned my bachelors degree in applied science for developing an STR-assay utilizing the RC-PCR technology. Since then I’ve had to pleasure to continue working at NimaGen, further refining the kit into what is now the IDseek OmniSTR. Currently I continue working on our expanding IDseek portfolio, not only in my role with R&D but also in my role as Quality Assurance Manager.
