About

The COPAN team has extensive experience in forensic science, molecular and cell biology as well as research, innovation and management. The team is embedded within the Copan group with longstanding scientific and commercial achievements in the field of preanalytics and microbiology.

In the CapCell project, the COPAN team will offer knowledge and expertise in biological sample collection, transport and preservation for different applications, ranging from people’s health to safety. The main contribution in the project will be focused on developing an innovative sample collection workflow to give optimal input to microfluidics devices, in terms of cell integrity as close as possible to the biological source of interest.

Michele Rosso, PhD

Microbiology Laboratory Manager | TEAM LEAD

After Molecular Biology graduation, I attended a 4 year-long PhD program in Molecular and Cell Biology at Uni-versity of Bologna and at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York. A 2nd level master’s in forensic Genetics at University of Roma Tor Vergata enriched my knowledge and experience in Forensic Genetics and Biology. Since 2015 I have started working in Copan Italia S.p.A., leader company in pre-analytic devices and automations, cur-rently covering R&D activities for forensics applications as Laboratory Manager.

Dr. Francesco Dal Dosso

Senior Innovation Manager

I hold an MSc in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico of Milan and a Ph.D. in Bioscience Engineering from KU Leuven. I currently work as Senior Innovation Manager at Copan, supporting the innovation of the group. Previously, I worked as Innovation Manager at KU Leuven. I am active in the field of in vitro diagnostic and life science research tools. I am author of 40 publications (h-index = 12) and inventor of 5 patents.

Anna Franzoni

Senior Scientific Affairs Specialist

I hold a B.Sc. in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques and a M.Sc. in Molecular and Medical Biotechnology. After my undergraduate studies, I conducted research at the University of East Anglia on Drosophila melanogaster to investigate reproductive traits. During my Master’s, I specialized in clinical microbiology, studying antibiotic resistance mechanisms and virulence factors in Citrobacter species. I am currently working as Senior Scientific Affairs Specialist at Copan Italia where I drive the development and dissemination of scientific knowledge for our products.
