To ensure that CapCell’s technologies respond to real operational needs, the Medical University of Innsbruck (MUI) surveyed 40 forensic laboratories across 22 countries involved in sexual assault casework. The survey explored current practices, persistent analytical challenges and the capabilities laboratories need from future technologies.
The selected insights (browse through the images on the right) show that many laboratories have adapted successfully to challenging samples, but important limitations remain throughout the forensic workflow. These range from recovering sufficient biological material and separating cell types to preserving information that can support activity-level interpretation.
Together, these findings are helping CapCell align its technology development with the practical needs of forensic professionals.
