CapCell consortium meets in Maastricht for in-person kick-off meeting

The CapCell consortium met in Maastricht on 19–20 November 2025 for its first in-person kick-off meeting, bringing partners together to review early progress and align on upcoming priorities. Over two days, teams discussed advances across the scientific work packages, explored cross-WP collaboration and strengthened coordination for the next phases of the project.
CapCell kicks off: A European project to transform forensic DNA analysis

CapCell is a new Horizon Europe project developing the first modular toolkit to isolate and analyse single cells from mixed DNA traces, helping forensic experts identify perpetrators in complex sexual assault cases. Led by Maastricht University with 13 partners across Europe, the four-year project aims to strengthen access to justice through more reliable forensic DNA profiling.
